Michael A. Jacobs

Michael A. Jacobs is a graduate of Stamford Central School and McGill University. He completed his law school education at Albany Law School of Union University. While in law school, he was a member of the Justinian Society, which was composed of top-10 graduates. He also served as editor of the Albany Law Review.

Mr. Jacobs has more than 30 years experience in his profession. His work includes matrimonial, criminal, negligence, product liability, medical malpractice and commercial law matters. Mr. Jacobs is admitted in the courts of New York State. He personally argued nearly 40 cases in Appellte Division of the State of New York with a success rate of more than 65 percent. He has also argued cases in the New York Court of Appeals and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Patrick J. Cannon

(2008)

Patrick J. Cannon was a 1971 graduate of Albany Law School. He practiced as an associate in the firm of Jacobs and Jacobs, Esqs. with Elias H. Jacobs and Michael A. Jacobs from 1973 until 1987. He left private practice to become Confidential Law Clerk to the Hon. Robert Harlem, Justice of the Supreme Court, from 1987 to 1991 and thereafter was affiliated with the firm of Harlem, Harlem and Cannon. Patrick J. Cannon was also an Assistant District Attorney and later Chief Assistant District Attorney for the County of Delaware from 1992 until 2000, while having his own practice in the Village of Margaretville, where he also served as Margaretville Village Attorney and as attorney for the Margaretville Fire District.

Lauren B. Jacobs

 

Lauren B. Jacobs is a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, Connnecticut 2003 and a 2008 graduate of American University's Washington College of Law.  Ms. Jacobs graduated with Pro Bono Honors, completing over 75 hours of pro bono services before graduating.  During her 3rd year of law school, she served as a student attorney for American University's Criminal Defense Clinic, representing clients in Montgomery County, MD.  She also completed an 8 month externship with the award winning Community Services Team at Holland and Knight, LLP, working solely on human rights issues and immigration cases.  Hightlights of her work include working with other H & K attorneys on successful applications for humanitarian parole for a Nigerian amputee, U Visa interim relief for a sexually abused child and her family, and several asylum clients.  Ms. Jacobs also served as a Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellow, teaching a year long course on youth justice to a class of DC public high school students.  After college Lauren worked as a legislative aide and thereafter legislative clerk for the Subcommittee on Government Reform dealing with Energy Policy, Natural Resources and Regulatory Affairs in the United States House of Representatives.

 

Ms. Jacobs is currently finishing her Master of Arts at American University in International Politics, focusing on youth rights in international development.  In October, 2009, Ms. Jacobs joined our staff of attorneys at Jacobs & Jacobs, Esq.

Andrew Stammel
 

Andrew Stammel is a 2008 graduate of Syracuse University.  Mr. Stammel graduated with honors and received the Dean's Scholarship, Joseph Brecher Scholarship, and the Family Law and Social Policy Certificate.    During his time at Syracuse University Mr. Stammel attended a Pro Bono Service Learning Course where he volunteered at the Onondaga County Family Court in collaboration with Vera House.  He interviewed clients and provided assistance to victims of domestic violence.  Mr. Stammel attended a Criminal Defense Clinic as a student attorney.  He represented clients charged with misdemeanors before Syracuse Criminal Court and some actions in Onondaga Family Court.  During the summer of 2006, Mr. Stammel was a Judicial Legal Intern for Delaware County Judge Carl F. Becker.  From August, 2004 to August, 2005, Mr. Stammel volunteered his time through Americorps Volunteer - Catskill Outdoor Education Corps. as a full time educator, community service organize and laborer.

 

Mr. Stammel was previously employed by the Delaware County Department of Social Services in Delhi, New York as a Child Protective Services Caseworker.  He advocated on behalf of families and children, managed a sizeable caseload, maintained detailed records, and collaborated with the legal department to reduce risk to children.  In July, 2009, Mr. Stammel joined our staff of attorneys at Jacobs & Jacobs, Esq.

Michael F. Mirarchi

(admitted in Pennsylvania only)

 

Michael F. Mirarchi graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2001 where he was Notes Editor for the Harvard Law Review.  In 1997 he graduated from Swarthmore College as a Mathematics and English Literature major.  During 1992/1993 Michael attended Institut St. Roch, Belgium as a Rotary exchange student where he acquired fluency in French and served as youth ambassador; giving presentations to schools, Rotary Clubs, and community organizations to promote international goodwill.  While attending school, Michael F. Mirarchi worked as a summer Associate for the law firm of Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, PC in Boston, Massachusetts in 1999 and for law firm of Altshuler, Berzon, Nussbaum, Rubin & Demain in San Francisco, California in 2000.

 

After graduating from Harvard Michael F. Mirarchi became Law Clerk to the Hon. Edward R. Becker of the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 2001-2002.  He was later an Associate with the firm Fine, Kaplan and Black, R.P.C. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he practiced complex commercial litigation and represented low income clients on a pro bono basis in property disputes.  In 2007, Michael then moved on to be a Contract Attorney with Hudson Legal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and provided part-time support in litigation of social security disability claims and workers’ compensation claims in the Oneonta and surrounding areas.  In September, 2009, Michael F. Mirarchi  joined our legal staff at Jacobs & Jacobs, Esqs.
